“Income and Employment generation through Village Tourism and Micro-enterprise
Initiatives” in Ravangla Sub-Division, South Sikkim.
An AusAID and AFAP (Australian Foundation for the Peoples of the Asia and the
Pacific) funded Project.
The main outcome of the Project was the establishment of Borong Polok Handmade
paper Unit, Polok and Kewzing Village Home Stays (in collaboration with KTDC - Kewzing Tourism Development Committee). Both the units are community based and
are Pilot Projects and have the potential for replication in other areas of
Sikkim.
“Pakyong Rorathang Watershed Programme for Poverty
alleviation”,
Pakyong Sub-Division, East Sikkim. Funded by AFAP. Completed
Poverty Alleviation Project in Pakyong - Rorathang area undertaken to create
income and employment through improved Floriculture and Horticulture practices.

Uttarey, West Sikkim.(2002-2003) Funded by AFAP. Ongoing
Project for Income & Employment Generation through Sustainable Practices, Linjok, South Sikkim (2003-2004) Funded By AFAP.

“School Environment Education Programme”, assisted by Delhi University, South
Campus, New Delhi has been completed . 6 schools and communities in Pakyong
Rorathang area have been covered under this campaign.
Rejuvenation of Citrus in Sikkim, a three year project funded by ACIAR
(Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research) , is currently being
implemented by Sikkim Development Foundation in collaboration with Department of
Horticulture, Government of Sikkim & ICAR.
The project aims to identify reasons/causes for citrus decline in Sikkim. The
project will also aim to introduce the results to ensure higher productivity for
the local farmers.
